The famous Buddhist pilgrimage site, Lumbini is located in the Rupandehi district of Province No. 5 in Nepal. It is a holy place where Lord Buddha was born. Lumbini is renowned all over the world as the birth place of Gautam Buddha, the light of Asia. Following Buddhist tradition, Lumbini is the place where Queen Mahamaya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautam in 563 BC. Siddhartha Gautam achieved enlightenment, became Buddha and founded Buddhism. Lumbini is one of the world's most important spiritual sites which attracts Buddhist pilgrims from around the world.

Chitwan falls under the southwestern part of the Province No.3 of Nepal along with Bharatpur. Chitwan covers an area of 2,238.39 sq. km. The district is name after the Chitwan Valley, one of Nepal's Inner Terai valleys between the Mahabharat and Siwalik ranges, both considered as foothills of the Himalayas.Chitwan’s main town Narayangadh is located on the banks of the Narayani River. It has numbers of shopping zones where people come from all over the district and neighboring districts to shop for groceries as well as luxuries. Over 24 languages is spoken in this place.

Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed part of the Terai region which was formerly extended over the foothills of Nepal. Chitwan used to be a dense forest ruled by Chitrsen Baba, where different Rishi Munis came to have their meditation during ancient time with numbers of wild animals like Leopard and Bengal tiger and is still known as Dense Forest of Nepal which is now recognized as the home land of Tharu people who are renowned for their art and drawing.
