The famous Buddhist pilgrimage site, Lumbini is located in the Rupandehi district of Province No. 5 in Nepal. It is a holy place where Lord Buddha was born. Lumbini is renowned all over the world as the birth place of Gautam Buddha, the light of Asia. Following Buddhist tradition, Lumbini is the place where Queen Mahamaya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautam in 563 BC. Siddhartha Gautam achieved enlightenment, became Buddha and founded Buddhism. Lumbini is one of the world's most important spiritual sites which attracts Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. Today, we can visit over 25 Buddhist monasteries built by diverse countries from Vietnam to France. People come to Lumbini to study Buddhism, meditate and visit the birthplace within the sacred Mayadevi Gardens.

Mayadevi Temple is the most sacred site in the Lumbini Garden where archaeologists have identified the exact spot where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to her son, later known as Lord Buddha. Inscriptions on the Ashoka Pillar nearby also indicate the spot as his birthplace. It is believed that the newly born Prince Siddhartha (later became the Buddha) took his first seven steps and delivered his peace message to humanity.

Nepal’s second largest city in terms of population and the largest city in terms of area, Pokhara is a perfect place for taking a break from our monotonous life. Lakeside is the main point of the city where people gather to take a walk around the shores of the Phewa Lake. Area around the lakeside is full of art and crafts, interesting shops and sidewalk vendors. Colorful wooden boats add color to the beauty of lake and paragliders come floating down from above. Flying and rowing over the lake is probably going to be one of the highlights of tourists’ travel experience in Nepal. Visitors can worship at the Tal Barahi Temple located on the island of Phewa Lake.One can catch a boat and reach there by paying about Rs.60 for one way boat and Rs.10 for the life jacket.
