Popular tourist destination Pokhara is the main tourism hub and the capital of tourism in Nepal. Every year the majority of tourist travel Pokhara to experience the ultimate adventure. Pokhara became a famous tourist destination for trekking (Annapurna Mountain Trek). Besides trekking, there are many reasons which made Pokhara a must-visit destination for all in South Asia. This tour guide will inspire you some best things to do in Pokhara, the peaceful destination in Nepal.
Pokhara became my favorite destination in Nepal since my first trip here in 2014. I found Pokhara is lovely, peaceful, and safe to travel solo. You can say Pokhara is a popular solo travel destination as well as in Nepal. This second largest city is safe to move around alone at any time. Here locals are friendly, generous, and cooperative.
Ghandruk lies to the north of the picturesque city of Pokhara, the district headquarters of Kaski. Ghandruk Village Development Committee (VDC) rises from a height of 1,000 m to 8,091 m above sea level, where Ghandruk village is situated at an altitude of 1,950 m. Endowed as it is with immense natural beauty, this village is well-known both inside and outside the country as a tourist destination. Ghandruk is well known as a model village even in south Asia.
It is near impossible to give an account of the allures of Ghandruk that lies on the Annapurna trekking trail, considered one of the worlds ten best. Its natural beauty is such that it brings peace and delight to everyone. The Annapurna Himalayan range apart, Ghandruk affords enchanting scenery of the greenery of Lumles Landruk, Bhichuk and Tolka.
To Ghandruks east lies Lumle, to the west Myagdi, to the north the Annapurna mountains and to the south Dangsing VDC. It borders the Modi Khola to the east, Deurali, Rani Danda and Dangsing to the west, Annapurna Himalayan range to the north and Modi confluence and Sandhi Khola to the south. Inhabited mostly by the Gurungs, Ghandruk is also considered to be an old Gurung settlement.
Although Ghandruk has 1,318 houses, massive migration has caused these houses to remain empty. According to the latest statistics of Kaski District Development Committee (DDC), Ghandruks population stands at 5,138. Of these, 2,872 or 55.9% are Gurungs, 1,546 or 30.1% are Dalits while 720 or 14% belong to other castes and groups.
