Description
Syangja District, a part of Gandaki Pradesh, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district, with Syangja bazaar (a small town) as its district headquarters, covers an area of 1,164 km2 (449 sq mi) and had a population of 289,148. It lies in the hilly region at an altitude ranging from about 300 meters along the banks of Kaligandaki river up to a couple of thousands meters above the sea level.
Nepal’s second-largest city in terms of population and the largest city in terms of area, Pokhara is a perfect place for taking a break from our monotonous life. It is also the second most visited city in Nepal after Kathmandu. Pokhara is a metropolitan city of Nepal and is also the capital of Gandaki Pradesh. Pokhara is located 200 km west of Kathmandu. Pokhara is considered the tourism capital of Nepal, is a base for trekkers taking the path of Annapurna Circuit through the Annapurna Conservation Area region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas. The city is also home to a large number of Gurkha soldiers. Pokhara is famous for its tranquility and countryside vibes.
Three mountains out of the ten highest mountains in the world can be seen from Pokhara, namely: Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu. The view of Macchapuchre with its pointed peak symbolizing fishtail is the icon of the city. Pokhara has a lot of places that tourists like to observe. Lakeside is the main point of the city where people gather to take a walk around the shores of Phewa Lake. The area around the lakeside is full of art and crafts, interesting shops and sidewalk vendors. Colorful wooden boats add color to the beauty of lake and paragliders come floating down from above. Flying and rowing over the lake is probably going to be one of the highlights of tourists’ travel experience in Nepal. Visitors can worship at the Tal Barahi Temple located on the island of Phewa Lake. One can catch a boat and reach there by paying about Rs.60 for one way boat and Rs.10 for the life jacket.
